About Greymouth
Greymouth is the largest town in the West Coast region and is located on the mouth of the Grey River. Maori had lived in Greymouth well before European settlement, and called the area Mawhera for “wide spread river mouth”. The Greymouth urban area has an estimated population of just under 10,000 people.
