About Matamata

Matamata is a rural town in the Waikato region of the North Island, located near the base of the Kaimai Ranges. The Kaimai Ranges is New Zealand's largest forest park, covering over 37,000 hectares with over 360kms of walking and tramping tracks.

There are several lovely walking tracks that start in the centre of Matamata including Wairere Falls and the Kaimai Summit Loop Track, both offering spectacular views of diverse scenery.
