About Kerikeri

As New Zealand’s earliest European settlement, Kerikeri is a township with a contemporary feel, mixed with history. It is the home to New Zealand’s oldest surviving wooden building and the world-renowned Stone Store.

The township is also known for its successful horticulture industry. Orchards were first planted in the 1920s, and today they produce a range of citrus, kiwifruit, and even macadamia nuts, giving the town the name the ‘fruit bowl of the nation’.

Visitors will enjoy Kerikeri’s diverse cultural activities, from arts to drama, all of which feature in an annual festival. Take your time to browse and sample its many art galleries, cafes and gourmet food stores.

Kerikeri Basin features a renowned Maori site, Kororipo Pā. There is also a replica of a pre-European pa called Rewa's Village, giving visitors a unique insight into Maori life before the arrival of European settlers.

Nature enthusiasts will love Kerikeri’s nature walks - try the Rainbow Falls walk which has a range of distance options to suit all abilities. For more information and ideas on what you can do in Kerikeri, head to visitboi.co.nz.
