Glacier Country Helicopters is a local family, owned and operated company. Husband and wife duo Poppy and Gus Gordon who are both commercial pilots started the company in 2014. You’ll find them at the hangar or flying one our helicopters most days.

Our friendly team are certified Qualmark Gold, have received the Traveller’s Choice Award several years and look forward to showing you the glaciers, rainforests and mountains that form our incredible back yard.

Bad Weather Refunds

  • If your experience is cancelled by the operator (because of the bad weather, safety concerns, unscheduled maintenance etc) you will be entitled to a full refund.

  • Please Note:

    All passengers and any gear will be weighed at check in. If you are 100kg or over, you will be required to book a comfort seat (the cost is half the RRP of your flight).

    Do you have limited mobility e.g. injury, arthritis, or recent surgery? There are two high ladder style steps into the helicopter. This information could affect what helicopter you fly you in.Please let us know as you proceed through checkout.

    Flights require a minimum of 4 pax to depart. Solo travellers & smaller bookings are welcomed, and we will aim to pair you up with another booking.

    Cancellation policy:

    All bookings are non-transferable, and cancellations must be made 24hours in advance or 100% cancellation fee will apply.

Do This

I booked a 60 minute trip. Due to changing weather the team adjusted flying times but also gave you the option of cancelling for a full refund. In the end I flew the following morning. The trip was stunning. It's the best way to see the vast rugged landscape of the alps. I'd put this in the must do list.

Once in a lifetime experience, with 2 landings!

We booked a plane/heli combined flight at Mt Cook with Inflite but got cancelled due to bad weather so we tried again at Franz Josef. Several companies operate there with near-identical pricing, but only Glacier Country Helicopters has a 60 min ride with 2 snow landings so we went for it. Absolutely fabulous experience to fly low over the glaciers, between the mountain tops and finally land on 2 glaciers. The first (Mannering) had soft powder snow, great for snowball fights and snow angels. The second (Shackleton) had hardpack, good for pictures and strolling around. Our pilot Gus was excellent. Highly recommended!
