Day 1: HOBART > STRAHAN

Departing from Hobart, your tour of Tasmania/lutruwita begins at Mount Field National Park, part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. Walk among the world’s tallest eucalyptus trees and discover the cascading Russell Falls. As we journey through the Western Wilds, the breathtaking scenery continues at Lake St Clair, Australia’s deepest freshwater lake, and the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. You'll learn about Tasmania’s mining history in Queenstown before arriving in the harborside village of Strahan, where we’ll spend the next two nights.

Overnight: Strahan

Day 2: WILD WEST COAST

Explore the West Coast’s wild and rugged coastlines and rainforests. Walk to Tasmania’s highest waterfall, Montezuma Falls, nestled within the ancient rainforests of the Tarkine/takayna. Along the coast, we’ll explore the immense Henty Sand Dunes and walk along the longest stretch of sand in Tasmania at Ocean Beach. Alternatively, you can opt for an exceptional nature cruise on the beautiful Gordon River (at your own cost). Strahan is also an excellent place to search for platypus with the guidance of your tour leader.

Overnight: Strahan

Day 3: CRADLE MOUNTAIN > LAUNCESTON

Cradle Mountain National Park is one of Tasmania's highlights. Explore Cradle’s alpine and glacial-carved wilderness while spotting wombats, echidnas, and other Tasmanian wildlife. Choose from a variety of world-class walks, such as the trek to the summit of Marion’s Lookout, the Dove Lake circuit, or a stroll to the Boatshed. After enjoying the park, we’ll drive to the northern city of Launceston, passing through the vibrant town of Sheffield, known as the Town of Murals.

Overnight: Launceston

Day 4: LAUNCESTON > BICHENO

In Launceston, you’ll explore Cataract Gorge along the South Esk River. Just minutes from the city center, this fantastic nature reserve is a great place to spot wallabies. Travel to the East Coast via St Columba Falls and enjoy lunch in the fishing town of St Helens. At the Bay of Fires/larapuna, learn about the spiritual connection of the land to Tasmanian Aboriginal people/palawa. Walk along the Bay’s pristine white sands, turquoise waters, and striking orange boulders. We will spend the night in the beachside town of Bicheno, home to the little penguin.

Overnight: Bicheno

Day 5: FREYCINET NATIONAL PARK > HOBART

Freycinet National Park, a stunning peninsula on Tasmania’s East Coast, offers a captivating nature-based experience with its beautiful beaches, coastal forests, and pink granite mountains. You can hike to the lookout of the famous Wineglass Bay or continue down to the beach for a walk along the shore. Alternatively, choose a challenging climb to the summit of Mt Amos or enjoy a relaxing coastal walk. We will also visit the lighthouse at Cape Tourville for breathtaking ocean views across the Tasman Sea before traveling back to Hobart/nipaluna along the Great Eastern Drive.

Overnight: Hobart

Day 6: TASMANIAN DEVILS, RICHMOND & WELLINGTON PARK

Explore Tasmania’s renowned conservation and wildlife sanctuary, Bonorong, where you’ll encounter a variety of native animals such as quolls, birds, wombats, kangaroos, and Tasmanian devils. Next, we’ll leisurely explore the heritage village of Richmond. En route back to Hobart, we’ll pass through the Coal River Valley wine region and continue to the city’s expansive natural playground, Mount Wellington/kunanyi. Locally known as “The Mountain,” Wellington Park is celebrated for its fern-filled glades, eucalyptus forests, dramatic rock formations, and boulder fields, offering superb walking tracks to stunning lookouts. Our guide will introduce you to some of our favorite spots on kunanyi, helping you discover the treasures of Wellington Park. Tonight, relax in one of the city’s historic pubs or restaurants.

Overnight: Hobart

Day 7: PORT ARTHUR HISTORIC SITE AND THE TASMAN PENINSULA

Explore the rugged coastal scenery and rich convict history of the Tasman Peninsula/turrakana. Port Arthur Historic Site, Australia’s best-preserved convict settlement and a UNESCO World Heritage-listed cultural attraction, offers insights into Tasmania’s harsh convict past through its expansive grounds and preserved ruins. At Remarkable Cave, embark on one of Tasmania’s finest short walks to witness the impressive coastal sand dunes of Crescent Bay. Finally, at Tasman Arch in Tasman National Park, marvel at the impact of the powerful Southern Ocean on Australia’s tallest sea cliffs.
