Learn a little bit more about hang gliding, and experience the excitement of flying the glider yourself! One of our friendly and highly experienced tandem operators will be in control, but will also assist you so YOU can get the thrills and temporarily pilot the glider (conditions permitting).

Discover the amazing views of Coronet Peak! Float over a breathtaking scenic view which will leave you absolutely amazed. Experience the feeling of freedom and fly like a bird, safely harnessed in a prone position.


Our launch point is at Coronet Peak, which offers some incredible views over the summits. The Coronet Peak take off is the highest commercial take-off point for Queenstown Freeflying activities. Enjoy the fantastic 360° panorama of Queenstown and the Southern Alps.

Bad Weather Refunds

  • If your experience is cancelled by the operator (because of the bad weather, safety concerns, unscheduled maintenance etc) you will be entitled to a full refund.

Notes

  • Wed love you to bring a friend along to watch as long as we have got room in the van. Please note that there is a small charge of NZ$20 per spectators.

  • Important - For hang gliding the minimum weight we can carry is 20 kg and the maximum is 90kg from October to March and 80kg from April to September. (Conditions apply and weight restrictions may vary throughout the year). No refund will be given if exceeding the maximum passenger weight. Maximum and minimum weight is made up by body weight plus clothing and shoes on the day.

    Coronet Peak Tandems Ltd reserve the right to cancel or amend any trip or booking. If the trip has to be cancelled due to weather conditions, there are no cancellation fees. However, if you cancel your trip within 48hr of departure, there is a 20% cancellation fee applicable. Cancellations within an hour of departure require a 50% cancellation fee. No refund is given, if customer is not turning up on time for departure of the trip.

I had a great time, I’ve yearned to fly like that for quite some time and was ecstatic to finally find a good place and price to pursue a hang gliding experience. Well worth the money, the pilots were super professional and gave me a lot of information about how they got started, what to look for in conditions, and how they go about hang gliding and paragliding in their own time. It’s not hanging; it’s flying!

I actually felt like the eye of the bird, rather than just having the view! Soaring above the clouds seeing as far in the distance as Wanaka, it’s a must-do if you like a mix of adrenaline with peace and tranquility! ? 10/10 would recommend to a friend! ✌️
