  • Create a personalized honey label featuring a photo of you, on the jar of fresh honey you take home with you.

An educational and entertaining combination of our Spin-Your-Own Honey Tour and our Bee-a-Beekeeper tour.

The best of both experiences in a single end to end journey discovering how honey is made. From a flower into a beehive, from a beehive and into your very own jar.

Join an experienced Beekeeper to open and work a busy active hive, including passing around frames covered in 1000’s of busy bees for you to hold. Learn how these social insects thrive within a Langstroth hive - we will discuss and discover workers, drones, brood, honey comb, propolis, beeswax, royal jelly and if lucky, the Queen Bee herself.

Then we take a frame of fresh honey, and show you how to uncap, spin, filter and bottle it yourself - this includes a personalized honey label featuring a photo of you, on the jar of fresh honey you take home with you.

  • We will supply you a full length Bee Suit and Leather Gloves. You must bring closed toe shoes with socks. Cameras welcome. If its a hot Summer day, please dress lightly as you are essentially wearing overalls, if you can dress in shorts and a t-shirt that would be ideal. This tour is 100% weather dependant, we need warm sunny conditions to safely open a beehive, without hurting our lovely bees. Bees hate the cold, and equally hate rain and windy conditions. If the weather affects our ability to open a beehive we will adapt to a full one hour Honey Spinning Tour and tag on another activity for free - for example a Honey Mead Tasting (normally $25pp) or Guided Manuka Honey Tasting (normally $29pp) - this will enable us to entertain for a full 75-90 minutes.

And ensure you get full value for your money - even if this is sold to you at a discounted price.

If you think the weather will be a problem, we will probably contact you first - but you are always welcome to call us 021942 808 or email cafe:buzzstop.co.nz

Great experience and informative

Very informative and a fun activity for the whole family. Nick was knowledgeable, very friendly and patiently answered all our questions. We learnt a lot about beekeeping and we all had a wonderful time during the whole session. Honey was so delicious and each of us was given a small bottle of honey that we collected ourselves. It was a great experience. Highly recommend to others.

Hands on fun

This workshop was so informative. All questions were welcome. The amount of everything we did hands on was well worth the price.

Very personal!

Nick really took the time to give me a great experience, answering lots of questions and altering the "plan" with a custom, hands on tour as it was too cold to open up the hives the day I went. This is a very homey, local experience - it's not a polished "tour-bus" visit. Expect to get your hands sticky and to taste a lot of different honey! The shop has an amazing variety of honeys and they are much less expensive than if you were buying them in town.
