Explore K’Gari (Fraser Island) on a Day Tour from Noosa with Discovery K'gari Adventures!
Start your day early with pick-ups from Noosa beginning at 5:20am. We'll drive 1.5 hours north to the charming coastal town of Rainbow Beach for our last pick-up. After ensuring everyone is ready, we take a short drive to Inskip Point to catch our ferry. Keep an eye out for dolphins, dugongs, and other marine life during the cruise to K’Gari (Fraser Island).
Our adventure begins on the island’s ‘Beach Highway’, 75 Mile Beach. We'll stop at the must-see Eli Creek and then continue along the coast to the SS Maheno Shipwreck. Learn about its fascinating history before we head inland to Boorangoora (Lake McKenzie). Relax or swim in the crystal-clear waters of this stunning lake, one of Australia's most beautiful spots.
Next, we visit the historic Central Station, once the island's logging headquarters. Your guide will share insights about the logging history, the towering rainforests, and the serene waters of Wanggoolba Creek. You can opt for a 1.8 km walk through the rainforest along the creek, meeting your guide again at Pile Valley. From there, we'll drive back to the Eastern Beach and catch the ferry.
We'll drop off passengers staying at Rainbow Beach before heading back to Noosa, arriving around 6-7 pm. Join us for an unforgettable day exploring the wonders of K’Gari (Fraser Island)!

Wonderful day, informative, good company, great host- Steven, good morning tea and lunch
We are thrilled to learn that you had a positive experience with us!
All in all was is a good trip, the island is fantastic and also the guide Jacob was very entertaining. I think you spend a little too less on the island itself. The way from noosa to K‘gari is a long way and also for the guys who joined from rainbow beach it felt more like a half day trip. I would still do it again but I would also appreciate more time on this amazing piece of earth.
The guide was excellent but let down by his equipment, fortunately he kept his sense and decorum all day long. Bus from Noosa to rainbow bay while old was ok, then we transferred to the 4x4 bus, the guide said his bus was in for a service, the advertised bus Was an air-conditioned ‘Warrior’ vehicle, what we got was a beaten up Toyota 4x4, most windows did not open if you wanted a photo from inside the van everyone had to move to the opening window (dingo photo) suspension shot, power system on the blink, transmission growly. The adventure started off a the tour did not take into account tide times so the bus had to run the soft sand then it stalled twice. First time it would not restart, we got while our guide went up a sand dune to make a phone call, eventually a 4x4 stopped and offered to pull start the bus, after a few pulls part of the bus pulled off and fired at the 4x4, fortunately no one was injured but it damaged the back of the 4x4 and took out one of its turn lights. Bus started was dug out and off we went, no long after it stalled again this time it restarted but was bogged, digging out by hand everyone one and eventually a group of us pushing to get it up and going. The driver never turned the bus off again for the rest of the day. By now the tide was pushing well up the beach and coming in, the motor growled as we bounced through the soft sand. Losing an hour meant we did not stop for morning tea. While Mackenzie lake was pretty the sky was overcast and the water cold, no one from the tour went in. Lunch in the dingo proof area was pleasant, after lunch we headed to central station and had an enjoyable stroll along the boardwalk, while the bulk if our group took the rainforest walk. We met them at the end of the walk with drinks and nibbles. then the return trip to Noosa. The inland sand roads on Fraser were in poor condition and the ride was bone shattering, no wonder they do not recommend the trip if you have a bad back, The beach trip back was fine with a low tide it was a sand highway and we stopped to see a dingo which was lazing on the beach. A 12 hour day (11 hours if no breakdowns) did not justify McKenzie lake 1hr or the rainforest 40 minute walk. On the positive side we saw a azure kingfisher, a Queensland lungfish and one dingo and crossed Fraser Island off our bucket list. While an interesting day I would not recommend this trip regardless of the provider.
Hi David, Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback, although this feedback is detailed - its extremely valuable to us. It seems this trip was a little more eventful than we had hoped and its very unusual to have so many issues with one bus during one day trip so this was disappointing to hear. We are in the process of replacing our 4WD vehicle to ensure these problems don't occur again but this can take some time. On a brighter note, I am so happy to hear that you spotted some awesome wildlife and I thank you once again for the time you have taken to reach out to us - I have passed your feedback onto our National Operations Team who are investigating all the points you have raised above. We hope to be back to normal operations soon. Have a great day - Tam :)
Was a great tour and the staff excellent
