Join us for a magical stellar evening with New Zealand’s only guided hot pools and star gazing experience!
Located at the renowned Tekapo Springs resort, the tour combines the spectacular Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve with exclusive access to a relaxing hot pool.
The journey begins with an outdoor tour where you’re introduced to the dazzling night skies of Tekapo – look through telescopes and learn about fascinating astronomy with your guide! In poor weather you’ll enjoy a customised Virtual Reality tour of Tekapo’s night skies with a unique blend of science and storytelling.
You’ll then enjoy exclusive access to our soul-warming 38℃ hot pool where you can relax on a floating hammock and marvel at the sparkling display of stars as you explore the wonder of Tekapo’s night skies. Your guide remains poolside to tell you more about the stars and share local stories.
The Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve boasts some of the clearest, darkest night skies in the world and is the largest reserve in the southern hemisphere.

The stargazing was very informative with a small group it allowed for a good amount of time to view thru the telescope. Hotpools & facilities were amazing! Feedforward would be to showcase Aotearoa/NZ purakau/stories with correct pronunciation & info. Good attempt at including our stories but a gentle reminder to also uphold the mana of the purakau by using correct info. It's what makes us unquie, tourist & Maori will appreciate the cultural component. There are amazing purakau resources online now or ask local iwi if they can share with you their local stories. Even if you played a recording it would still uphold the mana of the people & whenua/land.
We lucked out with the clouds moving off and had a wonderful night of looking at constellations and stars and eventually soaking in the hot springs. It was a fun night learning new things and getting to relax at the same time. I do recommend!
Were welcomed with much needed hot chocolate. Watched an informative slide show presentated by Eric. Went outside to beautiful clear starry night. Watched the stars though an impressive telescope while listening to various information about certain stars. Got into the Hot Springs pools. Gazed at the stars while Eric to us more star facts.
We had a lovely night soaking in the Tekapo hot springs whilst learning about and looking at the stars.
