Great fun. Well run. Courteous and professional staff. Very entertaining. So great to hear about the flora and fauna. A fun day out with our grandchildren who really enjoyed the crocodile feeding.
The last time I visited was in around 1984. Wow! How things have changed. The Duck tour was even more informative, with the driver/ guide being very personable and very knowledgeable. The walk, boomerang, didgeridoo were informative and a lot of fun, followed by the traditional dance, then bbq lunch ( which was beautiful) were followed by a walk around the 'zoo'. My 3 year old grandson was in his element!, equally impressed were his parents and my wife. The staff were also on top of the game. All up, a great day out.
The army duct rainforest tour was great with the guide being very knowledgable and funny at times. The dream time walk was excellent and the presenter was great with fantastic didgeridoo playing, spear throwing and everyone participating in boomerang throwing. Pamagirri dance was good especially the two young boys. But the Wildlife park is a disaster.
I took the city Kuranda bus to Kuranda. Then there was a shuttle bus, (extra cost) to the Rainforest. The bus leaves Cairns bus station at 9:30. So be sure you allow time to get to Kuranda, catch the shuttle and be on time for your tour. It is advisable or your timing will get messed up. However, the staff will do their best. It is a busy place. Once I got there, I totally enjoyed the boomerang demonstration, the didgeridoo demonstration, the spear throw and the dance. The animals were pretty lazy but still cool to see. The Duck boat was decent but the sound is really muffled so understanding the guide was hard. Then taking the shuttle back to Kuranda to visit a few shops. The shops start closing at 3-3:30, so visiting is tight if your taking the bus back. There is a 4 p.m. bus back to Cairns central. However, this bus also serves the school kids. So it does not run on school holidays. Otherwise last bus is 2:10 from Kuranda. Makes for a rushed day. I am really glad I did the rainforest portion though... One note: there is a designated smoking area. However, if you are waiting at the Duck boat area, the smoke drifts over there. Because that is a covered area, it is very bad to smell it. Maybe, a better location for smoker's so non smoker's won't be compromised. Thank you...
