On arrival, the front door was locked, and no one showed up until 10 minutes before. There was a double booking, luckily I arrived first. Unfortunately, no refreshments were offered, as advertised. This is an isolated incident, when I was waiting, a Flight Instructor came in looking for work which distracted the actual instructor for another 5 minutes, this demonstrated unprofessionalism. The simulator room and the whole building were dirty and cluttered. The simulator was not even activated and it took about 5 minutes for the instructor to set it up. It was a replica of an A320 cockpit, but substandard. The entire cockpit was unilluminated, with little glow from the instruments. The rudders were not working properly on the simulator and the instructor even said the simulator needed to be fixed. The throttle handles were working but did not feel sturdy as well as the reverse thrusters. There is no 'rumble' sound when activating the reverse thrusters. The onscreen projection is an outdated version of the software Microsoft Flight Simulator. Besides the runway itself, there are few graphics. Landing at YMML and YMEN the graphics do not represent the actual buildings. There were little markings on the screen, which was a distraction. In the one-hour session, I just wanted to do landings, instead of just pressing a button to reset, which is what I thought, the instructor had to handle the keyboard and this took about a minute each time. The instructor did not add any value. If you asked a question it would be answered but not narrative. Falcon International Aviation Academy, which is where the flight simulator is located, is at the initial stages of creating a flying school, from what I experienced with this experience is an indication of how well they would perform as a flight school. For other people to be aware, the address is Hangar 3, 250 Wirraway Road, Essendon Fields not 81 Bristol Street, Essendon Fields. The website needs to be updated because if you go to flightdeckexperience.net it will give you 81 Bristol Street. This is confusing from the start as well as being inconvenient. As indicated in my allocation of stars, this experience was very disappointing for an aviation enthusiast.
