This small group tour takes the stress and inconvenience out of planning, starting with a pick-up by luxurious 18-seater Mercedes coach.
We'll travel through some of the North Island's most picturesque rural landscapes where you'll see quaint farm blocks and vast hill country estates along with rolling farmlands, green pastures and native forests - all stunning features that characterize the Waitomo region.
Waitomo Ruakuri Cave - Step into a world of natural wonder on this magical underground experience. Hobbiton Movie Set - The journey continues with a scenic drive across the Waikato region, leading to a working sheep farm in Matamata—better known to fans of J.R.R. Tolkien as "The Shire." Immerse yourself in the world of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and discover the secrets behind Middle-earth’s creation as you wander through lush gullies, ancient trees, and detailed film sets, including Hobbit Holes, the Mill, and the Green Dragon Inn. Top off the experience with a specially brewed drink that’s truly worthy of a hobbit.

Magical Glowworm & Hobbiton Discovery Tour
Had a wonderful time , Maureen our driver was such a blast , telling us all about New Zealand's culture , food and land ! would recommend this tour ! My lunch was wonderful as well ,supplied with fruit , sandwich , fruit juice and some snacks . What to bring : comfy walking shoes , camera , water bottle , sunblock , hat and jacket .

Super well organized, Dennis was a great driver and super punctual and took us safe to all the places we went to on top of giving us great information about the area and places we went to! The ruakuri cave was awesome and all the guides there were also really insightful. And well the hobbiton speaks by itself even if you have seen the movies or not, it’s totally worth it! It’s really convenient to be able to be driven from Auckland and be taken to these amazing places. Food was also good and we stopped in a picnic area and ate a pre packed lunch

Amazing
I had a wonderful day tour. The staff was very kind, and the two tours were incredible. Seeing the glowworms was on my list for a long time, and it was amazing to learn more about them. Hobbiton was also magical. The tour guide was super funny and the whole experience really makes you feel like in the middle earth.

Caves and hobbits
The whole day trip was enjoyable. Our driver, Patrick, was great. Informative, witty and shared good music! The tour experiences were amazing. Worth the time and cost.

Excellent!
Really knowledgable and friendly guide who made the entire trip both interesting and smooth. I highly recommend Kiwi Wonder Tours for this tour. And a bonus - the provided lunch was awesome!
