Ricky said... My son (aged 13) and I toured Adelaide Hills/Hahndorf in late-June. As it turned out, we were the only guests that day, so our host-guide-driver George asked if he could accommodate any specific interests we might have, that were not in the itinerary. “Nature parks, fruit farms, flower nurseries!” George obliged! As it was winter, primary production activities were notably less buzzy. But George made the best of the situation. We made pit-stops at a (unattended) farm produce stall, a flower nursery, the quaint Old Apple Shed and Mount Lofty Botanic Garden. En route, we spotted koalas and kangaroos in the wild, and even made a surprise detour to George’s parents’ estate where he let my son pick an apple from a tree. Up until then, we hadn’t seen apples on a tree, let alone pick one! Finally, a late-lunch of cheeseboard and wine at Udder Delights in Hahndorf rounded off our gently-paced tour. I can vouch that that day, father and son bonded.
