What was there not to enjoy! We journeyed to the southern and northern points of Murray Bridge on the Captain Proud, sipping on bubbles and lunching while enjoying the waterway scenery. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The commentary was very informative and we were able to appreciate the past and present.
We thoroughly enjoyed this short cruise and the lunch was great. We had never cruised the Murray river before so this was a nice introduction to get the feel and decide whether or not we would like to book at another time for the overnight cruises or book the house boats. Staff were really friendly. Would recommend this cruise.
Thank you Jennifer, we are pleased you enjoyed your Murray River cruise. The cruise presents some wonderful scenery at a leisurely pace. We hope you have an opportunity to return and travel again.
Commentary and knowledge from captain was good. Food was nice generous portions. Drinks reasonably priced Music onboard would improve ambiance Enjoyed sharing joy of other passengers who got engaged onboard as a surprise
We took the tour in the off season (June) and were pleasantly surprised to be collected in a Lexus, not a bus, because my wife and I were the only ones to book that day. The tour operator and driver, Allan, ran the tour for us anyway. He was very friendly and immediately customised the tour route for us, basically taking us off the beaten track and through some interesting back blocks. He showed us through parts of Adelaide, the Adelaide hills, Mt Lofty and the botanic gardens before heading out to Murray Bridge via Hahndorf. We joined a number of other tourists on the Captain Proud river cruise. This is a very picturesque part of the country and the river tour lasted around 3 hours with the Captain providing a comprehensive narrative on the points of interest. The boat is about 20 metres long, is quite rustic by design (its only 42 years old!) and its quite spacious being on three levels. You are free to access most areas of the boat including the wheel house, with the top level providing the best views. The captain was a very pleasant fellow and will even allow you to take the wheel for pics etc. The boat has a bar service as well as selling coffee/tea. The included lunch is prepared on board offering a number of dishes to choose from. The quality of food is fine and the servings quite large. The barrister/bar attendant was also very pleasant and we were surprised to find this petite lady also acts as chief deck hand and rope handler! After the cruise Allan took us back to Hahndorf for the rest of the day. The village is full of history and is a must do with a large variety of shops and goods. The sweets shop is a highlight selling superb fudges, Polly Waffles and Violet Crumble bars. In all we can recommend the tour. The personalised treatment was a very nice touch – thank you Allan - this was a very enjoyable and pleasant experience.
